Coptic Blogger Arrested, Interrogated in Egypt

By Curt on Oct 29, 2007 in Imprisoned bloggers, Egypt

According to an article in Egypt’s Daily News, Hala El-Masry, a Coptic human rights activist and blogger also known as Hala Helmy Botros, was arrested in Qena governorate this weekend and interrogated by State security.

She claims she was forced previously by state security to discontinue her internet blog Aqbat Bela Hodood (Copts Without Borders) on which she aired her opinion on the alleged persecution of the Coptic Christian minority in Egypt.

In November, security officials seized a computer in a local Internet cafe El-Masry had used and she was subsequently denied access to the cafe.
