__B3rd.pers.dual imperfect active ἀπειλήτην, Epic dialect for ἠπειλείτην, Odyssea Homerus Epicus “Odyssey” 11.313 : later Epic dialect present ἀπειλείω Musaeus Epicus 122, 4th-5th c.AD(?): Nonnus Epicus “Dionysiaca” 20.204 :— hold out either in the way of promise or threat, and therefore:
__B.I sometimes in good sense, promise, οὐδ᾽ ἠπείλησεν ἄνακτι.. ῥέξειν κλειτὴν ἑκατόμβην Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 23.863, compare 872 ; also, boast or brag, ὥς ποτ᾽ ἀπειλήσει.1; ἦ μὲν ἀπείλησας βητάρμονας εἶναι ἀρίστους Odyssea Homerus Epicus “Odyssey” 8.383, compare Julianus Imperator “Orationes” 2.57a.
