ἀφανίζω, (< ἀφανής), [in LXX for שׁמם H8074 ni., שׁמד H8045 hi., etc.;] 1. to make unseen, hide from sight (Xen., al.). 2. (a) to destroy: Mt 6:19, 20; (b) to disfigure: Mt 6:16. Pass., to vanish: Ja 4:14; to perish: Ac 13:41(LXX).†
