εἴδωλον, -ου, τό (< εἶδος), [in LXX for אֱלֹוהָּ H433, גְּלוּלִים H1544, etc. ;] 1. (a) a phantom, image, likeness; (b) an image in the mind, an idea, fancy. 2. (a) an image of a god, an idol (cf.
