= Hebrew kudotinnamon, a superior kind of cassia, Cinnamomum Cassia, Herodotus Historicus 3.111, Theophrastus Philosophus “Historia Plantarum” 9.5.1, “PSI” 6.628 (3rd c.BC), “OGI” 214.59 (Didyma, 3rd c.BC) , etc.: κῐνάμωμον, Dionysius Periegeta 945 (pl.) , also in codices of Diodorus Siculus Historicus 1.91 , variant in Hdt. same place; compare κίνναμον.
__II name of a fabulous Indian bird, said to make its nest of twigs of κιννάμωμον (compare κινναμολόγος), Aristoteles Philosophus “Historia Animalium” 616a6, Antigonus Carystius Paradoxographus “Mirabilia” 43, Aelianus “De Natura Animalium - Ar.Byzantine Epit.” 2.34.
