Εὐρύκλεια 2.361, al., compare Herodotus Historicus 2.156, 6.61, LXX.Gen.35.8, “PCair.Zen.” 292.157 (3rd c.BC), “Glotta” 16.274 (from Egypt), Soranus Medicus 1.105, al., Galenus Medicus 6.36, etc.; ἡ τ. βασιλέως “Sammelb.” 4980 (1st c.BC)+5th c.BC+; of a mother, Sophocles Tragicus “Ajax” 849. —The masc. was usually τροφεύς (which see); but τροφός as masculine occurs in Euripides Tragicus “Hercules Furens” 45, “El.” 409, Plato Philosophus “Politicus” 268a, 268c.
