φόρος, -ου, ὁ (< φέρω), [in LXX chiefly for מַס H4522, also for מִדָּה H4060, etc. ;] tribute paid by a subject nation (cf. I Mac 10:33): φ. δοῦναι (I Mac 8:4, 7), Lk 20:22 23:2; ἀποδοῦναι, Ro 13:7; τελεῖν, Ro 13:6 (Hdt., al.).†
