Discoveries in the Judaean Desert, in wetenschappelijke publicaties vaak afgekort tot DJD, is een wetenschappelijke 40-delige boekenserie die geldt als de editio princeps van de Dode Zee-rollen. Het 39ste deel bestaat uit een index bij de eerste 38 delen. De serie wordt uitgegeven door Oxford University Press.

Beschrijving

Het internationale team van wetenschappers, betrokken bij het publicatieproject, bestond uit 106 redacteuren en medewerkers, en kwam uit Noord-Amerika, Israël en Europa. De manuscripten in de serie zijn ontdekt op de volgende archeologische vindplaatsen: Wadi Daliyeh, Ketef Jericho, Qumran, Wadi Murabba'at, Wadi Sdeir, Nahal Hever, Nahal Mishmar, en Nahal Se'elim. Tijdens de looptijd van de DJD-serie werden ongeveer 1000 manuscripten gepubliceerd. De manuscripten zijn in het Hebreeuws, Aramees, Arabisch en Grieks. De paleografische datering van de teksten varieert van ca. 250 v.C. tot de 11e eeuw n.C. De meeste delen zijn geschreven in het Engels; enkele delen zijn in het Frans. De delen bevatten ook analyses van archeologische gegevens en archeologische missies. Deel 39 geeft een inleiding op en samenvattingen van de voorgaande 38 delen.
