(εὐθύς) = the Homeric ἰθύνω (which is a frequently variant, as in Aeschylus Tragicus “Persae” 773) : — guide straight, direct, οἰωνὸν γνώμῃ στομίων ἄτερ εὐθύνων prev. author “Pr.” 289; εὐ. ἡνίας Aristophanes Comicus “Aves” 1739 (Lyric poetry) ; ἅρματα Isocrates Orator 1.32 ; εὐ. δόρυ steer the bark straight, Euripides Tragicus “Cyclops” 15; εὐ. πλάτην prev. author “Hec.” 39; ὁ εὐθύνων the helmsman, NT.Jam.3.4 ; εὐ. ἀγέλας lead or drive them, Xenophon Historicus “Institutio Cyri (Cyropaedia)” 1.1.2 ; εὐ. χερσί manage, guide him, Sophocles Tragicus “Ajax” 542; εὐ. πόδα Euripides Tragicus “Heraclidae” 728, etc.
